Toyota revealed recently that it will start to test autonomous electric vehicles utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) systems to talk and engage with drivers as soon as 2020. The cars will be able to gather personalized knowledge of user preferences and habits, and then adapt these for an improved driver experience with deep learning technology.

“By using AI technology, we want to expand and enhance the driving experience, making cars an object of affection again,” commented Makoto Okabe, the general manager of Toyota’s EV business planning division.

Other auto manufacturers such as GM, Honda, Hyundai, Ford and Nissan have already made it clear they are going in a similar direction.
