According to trade body WindEurope, Europe has added 6.1GW of new wind power capacity during the first half of 2017, suggesting a so-called bumper year. With 4.8GW of onshore wind capacity installed and 18 offshore projects coming online, Europe is rapidly becoming more sustainable.
Interestingly, the market is highly concentrated in just a few countries, with Germany, the UK, France, Belgium and Finland leading the charts. In total, €8.3 billion of new asset financing have been secured for wind energy.
