EU sets new renewables target of 35% for 2030

Industry and Energy Committee Members of the European Parliament (MEP) have agreed that a minimum of 35 percent of all energy consumed in the EU will have to come from renewable sources by 2030. For the transport sector alone, a minimum of 12 percent was set.

The average share of renewables in the EU in 2015 was 16.7 percent, with Sweden at the top with 53.9 percent.
