A hydroelectric scheme proposed for the River Weaver in Cheshire has exceeded expectations and met its £635,000 fund-raising target in just 51 hours. The developers, Hydrosense Renewables and Triodos Bank, say it is going to generate about 305MWh of clean electricity each year.
“The Church Minshull hydro power scheme is poised to benefit both the environment and the local community in the long term,” Dan Hird, head of Triodos Bank’s Corporate Finance Team, said in a statement. “This investment opportunity was snapped up quickly because investors saw that they could combine a financial return with positive local and environmental impact.”
