South Korean business conglomerate LG has developed the world’s first Handrail UV LED Sterilizer, a device built to get rid of the germs on handrails of escalators. Using ultraviolet LED technology, the Sterilizer kills 99.99 percent of germs from a fixed position.
It is easily installed into existing facilities without making major changes due to its small frame and is completely harmless to humans as it does not utilize any chemicals or heavy metals. LG has already secured the necessary CE certification required by the European Union, and the KC certificate required in South Korea. An announcement about the pricing was not made yet.
