Clean energy supplier SmartestEnergy has launched a “trigger-based” power purchase agreement (PPA) for independent generators of energy. The company claims that declining revenues can be prevented with smarter decisions over at what time a business sells the power.

The PPA is designed to aid small-scale energy generators, such as farmers with PV arrays or owners of small wind farm developments, to maximize the payments they receive for the power they send into the grid.

“Independents know that they can benefit from a more active hedging strategy but most lack the experience and resources to do this,” he continued. “We have responded by developing an industry-first product designed to help generators make the most of their assets and support continuing growth in the sector.”
