The UK government is planning to spend £34.8 million in funding for projects investigating how to decrease emissions from heating systems, particularly through smart heating systems and the use of hydrogen as a heat source. £10 million will go towards supporting the second phase of work of the Smart Systems and Heat Programme being undertaken by the Energy Systems Catapult, and the remaining £25 million will be used to investigate the potential of hydrogen.
“The UK government is committed to leading the world in delivering clean energy technology and today’s investment shows that we are prepared to support innovation in this critical area,” Climate Change Minister Claire Perry said.
The deadline for applications to Innovate UK’s Investment Accelerator Pilot is June 28th.
